Ordering Custom Team Uniforms? 6 Questions to Ask the Manufacturer First

Before you order custom team uniforms, ask the maker six things. Ask about the minimum order, the fabric and its weight, and how the design is applied. Then ask whether you get a physical sample, how long production takes, and what happens if something is wrong. The answers decide the price, the quality and whether the kit arrives on time.

1. What is the minimum order?

Ask for the minimum per design, not per order, and whether sizes can be mixed. Also ask about top up orders for new players later in the season. At QST, the minimum is 30 to 50 sets per design, with sizes mixed.

2. What fabric is it, and how heavy?

Ask for the fabric name and its weight in GSM. Soccer, basketball and volleyball kits are usually light polyester mesh or interlock. Rugby jerseys need a denser knit to survive tackles.

3. How is the design applied?

Sublimation, screen print, embroidery and tackle twill all look and wear differently. Our guide to sublimation vs screen printing vs embroidery explains which suits which garment.

4. Will I see a physical sample?

A digital mock up is not enough. Ask for a physical sample so you can check the fabric, the colours and the fit before bulk production. The approved sample becomes the standard for the whole order.

5. How long will it take?

Ask for the sample time and the bulk time separately, then add shipping. Work back from your first match. At QST, a sample takes 7 to 10 days and apparel bulk production takes 3 to 5 weeks after approval.

6. What if something goes wrong?

Ask how faults, misprints and wrong sizes are handled, and who your contact will be. A clear answer here is worth more than a small saving on price.

Checklist to send with your enquiry

  • Sport and garments: jerseys, shorts, socks, training tops, jackets.
  • Quantity per design and a rough size split.
  • Your logo files, colours or Pantone references.
  • Player names and numbers, or a note that they will follow.
  • The date you need the kit by, and the delivery country.

How much do custom team uniforms cost?

The price depends on the fabric, the decoration, the number of pieces and the extras like socks and shorts. Ask for a quote per set that lists what is included, plus shipping.

How do you collect sizes from players?

Use the maker’s size chart, or ask for a size set to try on. Collect each player’s size, name and number in one roster sheet before you order.

Should you order spare jerseys?

Yes, a few. Spares cover late joiners and damaged kit, and they cost less with the main order than as a small top up later.
